What kind of sonic landscapes open up when deeply listening to the sounds around us? And what kind of music is born out of the everyday sounds and objects surrounding us?
”Any object is an instrument. It’s all about activating the already existing potential in ourselves and the possible instruments around us. I’m a proud hunter-gatherer of sounds, and you can be too!” says Rönkkö who has been exploring everyday objects and the sounds of urban environment in his music for the past 15 years. The workshop is open for everyone interested in deep-listening of sounds and collective improvisation through experimental playing.
All participants are asked to leave their phones in a ”phone storage” inside Kiasma for the length of a workshop day, on both days. Workshop duration 5 hours/day (11:00-16:00) including a 45 min lunch break. Participating requires commitment for both days of the workshop. The language of the workshop is Finnish, English if needed.
