Rechnitz (Tuhon enkeli) (in English, “The Exterminating Angel”) by the Jalostamo-kollektiivi is based on an exceptional contemporary play by the Austrian Nobel Prize-winning writer Elfriede Jelinek. The play is an essayistic, exhausting account of the murder of some 200 Hungarian Jews in Rechnitz Castle in 1945.

The performance is a dramatic interpretation and adaptation, presented by five messengers, addressing painful and difficult subjects with stylistically sophisticated sarcasm, playfulness and zeal. Praised by critics, the work by the Jalostamo-kollektiivi is a feast of juxtapositions with music, motion, visuality and text.
