URB was organized first time in 2000 as a part of the Helsinki Capital of Culture year’s program. The festival presented the urban dance culture phenomena from jazz to Hip Hop and break dance performances, courses and open air events, as well as a jazz dance. URB got the public and critics unexpectedly enthusiastic response. URB first festival had 14 552 visitors.
